DIGITAL WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY
The wedding day is probably the top memory for people to try and keep alive; professional digital wedding photographers are usually hired to
ensure that memories of the day stay captured and ready to be looked at whenever the couple wants too. DVD's have replaced ‘video' and digital
photography ‘film' but that does not stop people from enjoying printed still images!
Most wedding photographers have assistants so they can create a wedding album that will be memorable but if you want to take pictures of a
friend's wedding, who will help you? Here are some tips if you find yourself at a friend or relations wedding taking photos with your digital
camera.
Many amateur photographers make the mistake of taking pictures with a boring background which is not something you want in a wedding photo.
Often the couple is in the thick of a crowd and at this point it may be easier to try and capture just their head and shoulders.
Spectacled guests can be a problem as glare from their glasses obscures their eyes and reflects back at the camera. Although some interesting
effects can be achieved when you take a picture of a subject with the light behind them this may not be the right occasion to experiment so make
sure the light is behind you when you take your shot.
Some of the best pictures you will take will be those where the subject(s) do not know the shot is being taken and the best way to do this is
by using a zoom lens. With digital wedding photography always remember to be ready for the shot as it saves people posing.
Probably the most important thing to remember with digital cameras is to have plenty of memory in your camera plus fresh batteries and the
best way to ensure this is to always carry spares. For 6 mega pixel cameras and up, the absolute bare minimum should be a 1 gigabyte card,
preferably 2 gigabytes and always use the highest resolution your camera can manage if the images are to be printed.
High resolution images are generally clearer and have greater color depth but it also means they can be printed out at larger sizes. Once you
have the images it is only a matter of printing out the ones you want and saving all of them on a CD for a permanent storage or presentation.
The success you have with your shots and your digital wedding photography will depend on two things, your feelings for the couple and the love
of photography itself.
